Kangaroo Island Spirits Distillery (KIS) was founded by Jon and Sarah Lark in 2004.
KIS, one of Australia’s first gin distilleries established in a shed on Kangaroo Island. Since then, the distillery has built a reputation as one of Australia’s best gin distillers and has won numerous awards at the best competitions in the world including the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London, and the SIP Awards in California.
I will forever remember this gin as this is the one that I tried in Australia and tried to purchase when I got home in the UK. When I realised no one stocked it, I shared my dilemma with my mother who set the foundation for the idea of Every Blissful Drop.
Wild Gin is distilled with Boobialla - Kangaroo Island native juniper. Notes include fresh local limes, mint picked from their garden and hand harvested pink peppercorns. It's no surprise that this marvellous gin holds many awards.
Nose - Bold Juniper, sweet mint and zesty citrus.
Palate - Warming juniper, lime, sweet and slightly earthy.
Finish - Slightly peppery with a lingering sweetness.
Recommended to be served in a copa glass with a handful of ice and a premium tonic (KIS recommend a Mediterranean flavoured tonic) and garnish with a choice of 1) a slice of apple and star anise 2) strawberries and lemon thyme 3) peach and basil. Whatever choice you go for, it'll make the best G&T!
